Radiators, usually forgotten about, are a vital component of your vehicle’s engine system. Car and truck engines produce a lot of heat, even at idle, that must be carried away quickly so that the engine can operate consistently in a proper and healthy temperature range. Over time, the small vibrations, bumps and shocks from normal driving will take a toll on vehicle components especially radiators which are relatively fragile.

If you notice a coolant leak or see your coolant light come on, you should check into it immediately. This indicates a serious problem, which could be a simple fix such as a radiator hose, or you may need to buy a new radiator or there is a small chance of an internal engine problem.

Most vehicles will need to buy a new radiator within the first 5-10 years or 150k miles. Fortunately, most Ford vehicles use radiators that can be replaced relatively easy and can be performed by the average do-it-yourself mechanic. Shopping around and ordering a radiator online can save you a lot of money, several hundred dollars, compared to having a dealership or independent garage to the work for you.
